Advent magic in Villach
During the pre Christmas season, Villach shines as a true city of lights. When thousands of lights illuminate the old town and the scent of freshly roasted almonds fills the streets, a very special and warm Advent atmosphere spreads throughout the city.
Around the parish church, the main square and Nikolaiplatz, lovingly decorated stalls invite visitors to stroll and linger. Here you will find traditional handicrafts, regional delicacies, atmospheric Advent music and many activities for both young and old.
The festive opening ceremony, the traditional Krampus parade, the varied children’s program and the opportunity to enjoy the Advent view from Carinthia’s highest church tower create a particularly magical atmosphere. While children go ice skating at the town hall square or decorate gingerbread, adults can enjoy punch, mulled wine and regional culinary specialties. New Year’s Eve in Villach – music, atmosphere and enjoyment
New Year’s Eve in Villach combines a festive atmosphere, live music, culinary delights and a varied program to create an unforgettable experience. When the festively illuminated old town shines in a warm glow and the scent of regional specialties fills the streets, a truly special atmosphere emerges.
At the town hall square, visitors can enjoy the ice skating rink, while a New Year’s Eve DJ set at the main square creates a lively mood. In the evening, a live music stage with bands and DJ acts accompanies the countdown to the New Year.
Culinary highlights and cozy “pleasure spots” at Oberer Kirchenplatz invite visitors to linger and enjoy. From midnight onwards, the huts and bars in the city center transform Villach into a lively party mile, with celebrations continuing into the early morning hours.
In addition, the Advent market around the parish church remains open on December 31 and even after midnight, allowing you to experience the turn of the year surrounded by the magical lights of Villach’s Advent season.
