From the Hotel City, with only a few steps through the Bahnhofstraße, then over the Draubrücke, you are right in the middle of Advent. During the Advent season Villach shines as “the city in the light”. At Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market) you will find everything that enhances the magic of the pre-Christmas season. With the traditional Advent Market, the Nasch (eating and drinking) Advent and the Art Advent, Villach invites you to enjoy, with all your senses, the wonderful events and attractions offered right up until Christmas.
Everything around the city church warms our hearts during the Advent season – from kitsch to art. Be it traditional Christmas tree decorations, or rustic felt slippers, at the Christmas market everyone will find something. On Nasch Advent, in the middle of the main square, the culinary delights on offer leave nothing to be desired.
Spread across the grounds of the Villach Advent you will find six huts, six innkeepers and six Villach regions presenting their culinary creations. This is not only a feast for the eyes, the new rustic and warm Advent huts in the main square will compel you to stop and try.
The Advent magic at the “Standesamtplatz” is a Christmas experience for young and old. From November 30th, four pop-up huts invite you to shop and linger! The exhibitors offer unique products and real craftsmanship. There will also be an open stage for the first time – here the audience will be offered a colorful supporting program. The supervised Christmas post office as well as the visit from Santa Claus and the weekly story times make children’s eyes light up and shorten the waiting time for the Christ child – a real children’s Christmas world!
From November 17, 2023 a varied Advent program awaits you, beginning with the grand opening.
