Ice skating or sledding

For ice skating you go from the Hotel City just over the Draubrücke and the main square.

There is nothing like skating outdoors and at the Villach Town Hall Square you can experience this, free of charge. You can even rent skating boots on site. When it’s cold enough and the Kärnten lakes are frozen, ice skating on natural ice is a real sensation. On the outskirts of the city at the Vassacher See, at the Silbersee or the Aichwaldsee, you are free to glide over the mirrored ice surfaces.  A true treat! Your hotel reception will advise you daily of which lakes are safe.

When tobogganing, one thing is very clear:

You do need energy to pull your toboggan up the run. But be assured your exciting decent in the valley will compensate for your effort. And for the little ones, there is a toboggan hill, directly on the Rosstratte Nature Park, Dobratsch. At the border triangle is the 8.4km long, comfortable and natural snow toboggan run: must for young and old. Experience sheer and endless tobogganing over open fields and romantic forest trails down into the valley. A toboggan rental is also available at the Dreiländereck and on the Rosstratte.

Our tip: We suggest taking the toboggan run from the Almgasthaus Hundsmarhof, using the romantic natural snow toboggan run and have lots of fun going down into the valley.
